The world of implant dentistry has not been an exception to the technological invasion of computer technology. Years ago, we used to place incisions and open up the patient’s gums to visualise the bone that we were placing implants in. The positioning of the implants was also subject to human skill and planning on models. While still accurate, it did present certain unknowns and these were an occasional concern. With the advent of digital implant planning however, we are able to digitally plan the positions of implants BEFORE surgery. Based on our digital treatment plans we then generate an implant placement guide that is extremely accurate. the planning itself is based on a computer tomographic scan and allows us to completely eliminate incisions, stitches, bleeding and complications. There is really no better way to have implants done.
